Pollution Control Board announces sites for idol immersion


The District Collector T.N. Hariharan along with District Environmental Officer, Tamilnadu Pollution Board has announced the protocols to be followed by the activists of political outfits and the public during Vinayakar Chaturthi, on 5th September 2016. 

The officials have strictly banned the installation and immersion of idols that are not designed as per the mandate prescribed by the TN Pollution control board.  

The following places are designated by the board to use for immersion of idols in Coimbatore District.

  • Singanallur and Muthannan Lakes in Coimbatore.
  • Bhavani River  for Sirumugai, Elagampalayam, Mettupalayam, Subramanian Kovil and Thekkampatti.
  • Ambarampalayam River in Pollachi.
  • Noyyal River.
  • Upparu river - Anamalai.
  • Nadumalai river - Valparai.


The officials have requested the people to abide by the rules and celebrate the festival peacefully and happily.
