Couple stopped from self immolation at collectorate

Today morning, a self-immolation attempt was ceased by the Police at the Collectorate.

Dinesh (32) along with his wife Nithya and his son are residents of Sundapalayam, Vadavalli. Dinesh works as a financial agent in a private firm. Unexpectedly, the couple tried to self-immolate at the collectorate, today morning.

The on-duty Police personnel stopped their act and reported the incident to the Racecourse Police Station. The couple was arrested and on enquiry, Dinesh stated that recently he was attacked by two gangsters residing in their area. He escalated the incident to Thondamuthur Police Station, who arrested the vandals and later released them after two days.

Post-release the gangsters have been posing serious threats to Dinesh, while he was on his way to home. The continued threats forced Dinesh to lodge another complaint to the Thondamuthur Police. Dinesh alleged that the Police did not take up his complaint and hence they decided to immolate themselves at the Collectorate, to show their distress. The incident created a brief panic at the Collectorate.
