Newly married inter-caste couple seek protection from parents threat


A newly-married couple today petitioned to the Commissioner of Police office seeking protection from their parents, who have been threatening them on dire consequences.

Lakshmi (21) daughter of Srinivasan from Palavanthanngal, Chennai and Jai Suriya (23) son of Rajendra Kumar, Anna Nagar (West), Chennai, are employees at a private bank in Coimbatore. Lakshmi and Jai Suriya were in love with each other for the past seven years. As both belong to different castes, their parents were totally against their love.

A couple of days back, the duo eloped from the home and got married at the Periyar Padhipagam, with the help of Thandhai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam's Secretary K.Ramakrishnan. Post their wedding, the couple approached the Commissioner of Police office to seek protection from their parents. 

It is reported that the Girl's aunt and uncle are working at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat and have been alleged for threatening the couple.
