Today the, District Collector N. Hariharan inspected the bus depots in- person to assure undisturbed transport facilities to the public, as a nation-wide bandh has been declared by the trade unions. However, the trade unions of the AIADMK has not participated in the bandh.
The inspection took place at the bus depots in Ukkadam, Ondipudur and Sungam. There are totally 17 depots in the city with 712 city buses and 436 outstation buses. The officials have deployed 146 additional buses so that the public could carry on with their routines during the bandh, 12 buses are already in additional duty, he said.
The safety of the public has been strictly taken into account and officers of all departments are put on a watch to avoid unforeseen activities. The Milk depot at Pacchapalayam is functioning fully and the officials are monitoring the situation to ensure milk distributions vans are not interrupted.
