Thiyagarajan a call taxi diver from Ramanathapuram committed suicide alleging Tafe Access Ltd, the authorized dealer of Tata Motors in the Coimbatore region, the reason for his death.
It is reported that Thiyagarajan had purchased an Innova car from Tafe Access Ltd in the year 2014. He used the car for call taxi purpose and had been paying a due of Rs. 13,500/- per month towards his vehicle loan. All was well for the first few months, soon his vehicle encountered engine problems, which was unresolved by the service centre at Tafe Access. He repeatedly thronged the service centre claiming to replace the car or resolve the issue, as it was less than a year old. Finally, he decided to take the issue judicially and filed a case in the Court against Tafe.
Due to the persistent engine problem, he was unable to run his vehicle, which in turn adversely affected on his monthly earnings. Thiyagarajan had pledged his wife's and sister's jewels to purchase the vehicle, hence the bank officials pressurised him to pay the interest for the jewels pledged and the financiers thronged his residence to collect the pending dues.
The undue pressures, put Thiyagarajan in a state of distress and dejection. Yesterday, he sent his wife and children to her hometown in Bhavani and hanged himself at his Sister's residence. He had written a letter declaring Tafe Access as the reason for his death.
The Puliakulam Police have filed a case against the suicide. The family members of the deceased protested at the Government Hospital to initiate immediate action against the offenders. The Police calmed the family members and cleared the situation.
