District Congress party condemns Kerala Govt. on dam issue

The members of the Coimbatore District Congress Party demonstrated a protest at the KK Chavady checkpost, near Ettimadai, condemning Kerala Government’s proposal to build dam at Attapadi.

The protestors urged that the TN Chief Minister should facilitate talks with the Kerala Government and settle the issue amicably. ‘The construction of the dam at Attapadi would adversely affect the livelihood of close to 2 lakh farmers  around the Kongu region. Hence the Chief Minister should convene a meeting with the Prime Minister for the welfare of the farmers in Tamil Nadu. 

They apprised that they would intensify their protests, until the issue is resolved. It is to be noted that the Congress party in Kerala have extended their firm support for the construction of dam in contrary to Tamil Nadu Congress party.
