Traffic diversions today, as idol procession begins by noon


The Coimbatore City Traffic Police have implemented traffic diversions in the City as the Vinayakar Chathurthi procession is scheduled to commence today, 7th September from 2pm onwards. The public have been advised to follow the traffic diversions for hassle-free movement post noon.

Vinayakar Chathurthi Procession on behalf of Hindu Makkal Katchi, Hindu Munnani, Bharath Sena, Hanuman Sena, Vishwa Hindu Parishad will commence from Saradha Mill Road in Podanur and will reach Kurichi Tank through Sundarapuram at 2:00 pm. Another procession will begin at 1:00 pm from Dharmaraj temple in Kuniamuthur and will reach Kuniamuthur lake through Palakkad Road.







Please note the changes in Traffic routes incorporated for smooth flow of traffic.

  • Lorries and heavy trucks are restricted inside the city from 2 pm to 11 pm hours.
  • Vehicles coming from Palakkad Road towards Ukkadam should take a left turn at Kovaipudur Pirivu and reach Ashram School through Kulathupalayam, vehicles should take a right turn at the Ashram School junction and can reach Ukkadam through Puttuvikki road.
  • All Heavy vehicles and light vehicles moving towards Pollachi from Ukkadam should travel through Podanur Kadai Veethi, Nanjundapuram Road, Ramanathapuram Junction, Singanallur, Vellalore, G.D. Tank and can reach Eachanari Pollachi road.
  • Heavy Vehicles coming from Pollachi to Coimbatore should use L&T Bypass road.
  • Other vehicles coming from Pollachi should take left at Madukkarai market road from Mahalakshmi Temple junction and can reach Palakkad road from Pillayarpuram junction and travel to other places.


The commercial organisations and public, who are living along the designated procession routes are requested to support for the peaceful conduct of the procession.
