Airstrikes in Syria kills 105 people despite the announcement of ceasefire

According to a foreign news agency, the number of people who died in the airstrikes by US and Russia in the cities of Aleppo and Idlib has reached 105, whereas dozens of more people have been injured.

The Syrian opposition party has said the airstrike in the city of Idlib targeted the main commercial centre of the city which killed 60 people while the number of people injured is in dozens.

It has been now confirmed that at least 45 people have been killed in the airstrike which targeted the city of Aleppo, the casualties mostly consist of women and children.

Do note that yesterday in Geneva both Russia and the United States agreed to a 10-day ceasefire in Syria. Both countries agreed that the ceasefire will begin at sunset on September 12 and in that time period, Syrian government will not perform any activity in the rebel-controlled areas.

The United States and Russia plan to establish a joint command centre to supervise and overlook the ceasefire agreement.

Ever since the uprising against Syrian president Bashar Al Assad five years ago the conflict in Syria has gotten worse and has claimed the lives of millions of people and has played its part in further increasing global instability.

Although millions of Syrians have fled to neighbouring countries and many of them are seeking asylum in western countries, there are still millions of people stuck in Syria.

The ceasefire agreement has been appreciated by Turkey also as it has too launched military operations inside Syria since last month.

This deal was reached between John Kerry, the US Secretary of State and Sergei Lavrov his Russian counterpart in Geneva.
