Elephant tramples man to death at Vellingiri foothills


Ponraj, a goldsmith from Tuticorin has been jobless for the past few months. Hence, he has been travelling to Coimbatore to seek some job related to his profession. Yesterday, Ponraj visited Isha Yoga foundation and was returning back, late evening. Unexpectedly, a tusker from the reserve area chased Ponraj and trampled him to death. 

The incident was reported to the forest officials and the Alandurai Police station, who have registered complaint against the incident. The sudden death of Ponraj has shocked his wife Ponnulakshmi and his two sons, Sumanraj and Surya. His body has been sent to Coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem.
