'People should vote earnestly in the local body elections', says Premalatha Vijayakanth

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) leader Premalatha Vijayakanth was in the city to attend a party event. She addressed the media at the Coimbatore Airport on some trending issues in the State.

'The Chief Minister should issue a statement on the recent IT- sleuth at the residence of AIADMK's former Minister of electricity board, Natham Viswanathan. And the incident proves the state of corruption of the AIADMK Government' she said.

When questioned about the Cauvery water dispute, she said that the political parties are probing the violence for their own interests, ultimately affecting the people's life and properties. She alleged that the Tamil Nadu government has been working at snail-pace to address the issues of the people.

'Coimbatore, was once pridely called as the'Manchester of South India' but currently, the coTton production has gone down drastically. The DMK and AIADMK parties which ruled Coimbatore over these decades are the sole reason for this poor state of affairs in the City' she said.

'Siruvani is the prime source of drinking water for the districts in the Kongu region. The recent announcement by the Kerala Government apprising on the preliminary construction of a dam across Siruvani river at Attapadi, will gravely affect the welfare of the farmers and the people of Kongu region. Our DMDK party will stand with the people of Kongu region and voice our support against the construction of dam across Siruvani by the Kerala Government' she reassured.

She requested the people to abstain from getting money to cast their votes during the local body election, rather cast votes earnestly.
