A shocking twist has been reported in the infamous, cheating incident case, at the L&T Bye pass road, costing an amount of Rs. 3 crore and 90 lakhs.
On 25th July, 2016, four traders, who were enroute to Malappuram, Kerala from Chennai were cheated by strangers, impersonating as cops and swindled 3 crores and 90 lakhs worth of cash and their car. The incident shocked the people as well as the cops. A case has been registered at the Madukkarai Police station and two special teams was formed under Superintendent of Police, Ramyabharathi and DSP Krishnamoorthy. The special teams are scrutinizing the CCTV footages in the areas to get any clues on the fraudsters. The car that was extorted was recovered at Kerala, on 27th September, 2016.
The police arrested 3 suspects Sudhir, Subash and Safiq and upon enquiry the suspects accepted their involvement in the robbery and also reported that out of the 3 crore and 90 lakhs, they had taken a crore and 90 lakhs and handed over the rest of the 2 crores to Inspector Muthukumar and Sub-Inspector Saravanan and Head Constable Dharmendran of Karur. Their revelation shocked the police who tightened the noose to confirm their statements.
Currently, the higher offcials have begun their investigation on the suspected cops for alleged involvement in extorting money. Another cop from Race course station, Inspector Selvaraj for helping Muthukumar during his visits to Coimbatore is also put under screening.


All the three cops involved in this extortion have been suspended from their respective posts, with immediate effect.
