Punjab RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja passes away due to kidney infection

After a prolonged battle for life for over 45 days, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Jagdish Gagneja passed away on Thursday morning. Gagneja was attacked by two unidentified motorcycle-borne men near Jyoti Chowk located in Ludhiana on August 6 late evening. An FIR against two unidentified persons was lodged at Police Station, Division 4 in this regard.

According to the doctors, Gagneja’s condition worsened on Wednesday night and was declared dead at 9.16 am on Thursday. With his intestines ans other vital organs ruptured with bullets, he had been on ventilator for quite some time.

Five weeks after the attack on Gagneja, the CBI team launched an inquiry. The case was handed over to them on the recommendation from Punjab DGP Suresh Arora. According to sources, the team studied the entire file prepared by the Punjab Police and even visited the locations frequently visited by the RSS leader. “We visited the spot where the attack took place several times. We are also analysing how the assailants managed to attack him in such a busy area and then managed to escape even as police was deployed less than 100 meters away from the spot,” said one members of the team, who requested anonymity.
