Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Bandipora, 1 Terrorist Killed

Srinagar: At least one terrorist was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora, the army said.

The terrorists attacked the security personnel while they were conducting a search operation in Aragam village of Bandipora, triggering an encounter, an army official said.

The gunfight is still on as one of the two terrorists is believed to be hiding in the area.

This is the first anti-terrorist operation by the Army in the Valley since unrest began after the killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani on July 8.

The encounter comes three days after the terrorists attacked an army camp in Uri sector, killing 18 soldiers.

India has directly blamed Pakistan for the terror attack in Uri.

A week before the army base attack, a policeman and four intruders were killed in a gunfight in Jammu's Poonch.
