Sandalwood smugglers strike again in the city


Three sandalwood trees have been cut by some strangers at Saramedu area, Near Karumbu Kadai. The incident came to light, today morning. It is assumed that the smuggled parts are worth Rs.5 lakhs.

It is be noted that, inspite of heightened security at Race Course, the smugglers last week cut down a sandalwood tree at a Bungalow in the same area. Despite of securities at every alternate Bungalows and at all senior government offcials residences at Race Course, how the offenders were able to breach, is still a mystery?

The police have registered a case against both the incidents and have tightened the noose for the offenders.
