The crew of expert doctors along with state-of-the-art technology has saved the precious life of a 46-year-old woman, who was diagnosed with a rare heart condition 'Acute Dissection of the aorta' means bleeding around the heart.
She was admitted in a critical stage at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, the cardio surgery team led by Dr. Thiyagarajan and team diagnosed her condition and immediately planned to operate her. The challenging surgery demanded to stop her heart, with a help of heart-lung machine and the body temperature was reduced to 18 degrees celsius. The entire aorta was replaced with a Dacron graft. Patient's own valve was repaired and preserved as it regained competency after repair. The patient was under keen observation and presently discharged after 10-days of intensive care by the doctors.
