The District Mahila Court Magistrate Raja today pronounced a double-life sentence, single-death and a penalty of Rs. 25,000 to Mahesh (30) accused of Ramya's murder case.
Ramya (24), Assistant Professor of a private college in the city was raped and murdered gruesomely at her residence in Karamadai on 3rd November, 2014. The police after a frantic search convicted Mahesh (30), son of Krishnan from Pathupattu Village, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli district.
On the day of incident, the accused has followed Ramya in the intent of snatching her jewels. As he noticed, Ramya was alone at home, he brutally killed her and raped, thereafter. He also stole Rs. 60,000 cash and 6.5 sovereign of gold from her house.
The Magistrate also ordered that the Tamil Nadu Government, under provision 357-A should fairly compensate the victim's family. Post the judgement the accused Mahesh was taken to the Coimbatore prison.
