With the aim of spreading awareness about breast cancer among women, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR) launched an innovative and unique device this morning. The hospital calls this device Awareness USB wrist band and it is powered with all capabilities of creating awareness about breast cancer. This 8-GB pink silicon USB wrist band has speed links like fast and easy access to breast cancer webpage, a video on breast cancer, a short film that educates users about the importance of diagnosing breast cancer at an early stage among others.

Dr. Guhan, Directional Oncologist, SRIOR shared “In our country there is a serious lack of awareness about breast cancer among women. This is why more than 50% cases are diagnosed in their advanced stages.
Early detection can cure the disease. In order to spread the awareness about breast cancer and to educate women on the importance of detecting this cancer in its early stage, SRIOR introduces several programmes. This year we wanted to come up with something novel so launched the Awareness USB wrist band with digital awareness about breast cancer.” Dr. Guhan said. This doctor also claims that Sri Ramkrishna Hospital is one of the pioneers to launch a digital awareness method that is capable of educating women about breast cancer.
Addressing the gathering at the launch, Swathi Rohit Chief Business Officer of Ramakrishna Hospital said “Initially it was a taboo to speak about breast cancer but with increasing awareness women are opening up about the disease.” Swathi said. She appreciated the Deepam project of Ramakrishna Hospital which has benefitted nearly 2 lakh women. She was positive that the 8 GB USB awareness wrist band is powered with information about breast cancer which help in spreading awareness about this disease among women.

Across the world, October is observed as World Breast Cancer Awareness month. To commemorate World Breast Cancer Awareness, Sri Ramkrishna Hospital will provide free mamomgram examination and counselling for all women at the hospital from 10 am to 5 pm.
