The Students of Department of Public and Social Welfare of Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science celebrated World Elders day at Coimbatore Corporation Night Shelter that is located in R.S Puram. Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijay Karthikeyan and Assistant Collector Gandhimathi participated in this event.

A signature campaign at this shelter home was organized. The students of the college interacted with the elders and shared lighter moments with them. Sweets and bed sheets were distributed to the elders.

The students of Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science wrote messages on World Elders Day and signed them too. The members of this shelter home sang danced to latest filmy numbers.
Octogenarian Raju has made this shelter home as his home. He has been an inmate at this home for several years. He claims to having participated in marches along with Mahatma Gandhi. He was abandoned by his 7 children as he was considered as a burden by them. He shares with SimpliCity that now he does not wish to get back to his original home as this shelter home makes him feel happy and has a lot of good times with his inmates, as well. He also shares that the kids in the shelter home are like his own children. Hence, doesn't feel abandoned.
The students from Sri Krishna college really made the day for the elderly people who thoroughly enjoyed their presence and care.
