Police official attempts suicide

This morning, police officer Ramar (25) who is originally from Madurai district 6 battalion attempted suicide by hanging himself at his quarters at Mandapam in Seeranaikamplayam. However, he was rescued by his fellow colleagues and was rushed to Government Hospital (GH). It is reported that Ramar took this extreme step as he was depressed of not getting a promotion at work. Following the murder of Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar, Ramar (25) hailing from Madurai district was posted on duty in Coimbatore ahead of the communal riots.
