City-based body sculpting therapist and fitness expert, 48-year old Jaya Mahesh was recently crowned Mrs. India Earth 2016 under the classic winner category. This beauty pageant recognizes women for the contributions that they have made towards the society. About 41 contestants participated in this beauty contest with a cause that was hosted in New Delhi.

Since she was a child, her parents have encouraged her to give back to the society as much as she possibly could. And Jaya shares with us that she has grown up with these values. From supporting students to pursue their education to providing funds for women start their business, Jaya has made a contribution towards various causes in cash and in kind. Prior to leaving for this contest, Jaya planted 80 saplings in the gated community of Kannampalayam in our city.

A candid Jaya shares with us that it was her daughter Sanjana who sent in the application for the Mrs. India Earth 2016 beauty pageant. “At this beauty contest for a cause, I introduced myself as someone who has done my bit for the society and I also stated that I have no plans for the future, as my aim is to continue doing whatever I am doing.” Jays beams with joy. She shares that this she won the judge’s heart and this left the panel of judges clueless about what to ask her in the formal question and answer round.

For the talent round, Jaya did a semi-classical dance performance. She shares with us that she was trained by Sheriff Dance Company. The costumes that she wore for the various rounds of the Mrs. India Earth 2016 beauty pageant were designed by her sister Rekha Govind. Jaya tells us that she was one of the 20 semi-finalists and she was crowned winner.

A recipient of the Mrs. Coimbatore 2016 title, for Jaya age is just a number. “A woman should continue doing what she loves doing. Why should marriage stop her from pursuing her dreams?” Jaya asks.
