Members of TPDK petition seeking the arrest of Arjun Sampath

Arjun Sampath leader of Hindu Munnani party yesterday, (October 11) posted an image on Facebook where he is seen performing Ayutha Pooja with guns and other weapons. This image was doing several rounds in the various social media and it created a controversy. Today, members of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) presented a petition at the Coimbatore commissioner's office seeking action be taken against Arjun.

The petitioners have claimed that Arjun has posted the image in Facebook to create fear among the people. Hence he (Arjun) should be arrested under Arms Acts. Members of TPDK under the leadership of Aruchamy presented the petition to the commissioner.

They (the petitioners) also demanded for an investigation to be carried out on how Arjun got the weapons and also he should be arrested if he is found to possess the weapons without a valid licence. When Arjun was asked about the issue he stated that toy guns and instruments which are used at home were used for the pooja and the photo was published in Facebook. This leader also stated that the petition has been filed as an act of revenge to tarnish his image.
