2 military engineer service officials in CBI net for bribery

Pune: The CBI on Friday arrested two Military Engineer Service officials from the office of the garrison engineer (Air Force) in Lohegaon for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs90,000 from a civil contractor.

The arrested duo are assistant garrison engineer (contract) R B Aher and junior engineer (quantity surveying and contract) Meenu Gupta. They will be produced before a special court on Saturday.

According to a CBI statement, the arrested officers had allegedly demanded Rs1.1 lakh from the civil contractor for processing bills of Rs7 lakh. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs90,000.

The contractor had lodged a complaint with the CBI. The CBI laid a trap and caught the duo.
