New fire stations inaugurated in Thondamuthur and Periyanaickenpalayam

Coimbatore: Two new fire station in Thondamuthur and Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district were inaugurated through video conferencing by Chief Minister, Edappadi Palanisamy. In the inauguration that took place through video conferencing, Minister SP Velumani, District Collector and legislators wee present.

Inaugurating the fire station, CM said, "Coimbatore district is not only an important commercial city in Tamil Nadu but also a city with great business and industrial potential. With the presence of multiple industries and factories, its pertinent for the city to be well equipped with fire stations to assist during unforeseen eventualities."

"The fire and rescue department is working to ensure that people are not only saved from unforeseen accidents but also play a pivotal role in rescuing people from natural disasters such as storms, floods and landslides. At present, there are ten fire stations operating in  Coimbatore South, Coimbatore North, Ganapathi, Peelamedu, Annur, Kinnathkadavu, Sulur, Pollachi, Valparai and Mettupalayam. And, 167 personnel  including 16 officers and 151 fire station guards are working round-the-clock", the CM told through video conferencing. 

Addressing at the event, Minister SP Velumani said, "As response time is very crucial during fire accidents, its important the city has fully-equipped fire stations at multiple locations. The newly inaugurated fire station will serve 23 villages around Thondamuthur and 18 villages around Periyanaickenpalayam."
