This morning members of the Naam Tamilar party staged a protest before the Coimbatore Junction. This protest was organized to urge the government at the centre to form the Cauvery Water Management Tribunal.

While interacting with the media, Arun secretary of Veeratamilar Munnani who also participated in the protest said “The government at the centre is headstrong on not releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu as per the court order. The central government continues to act in favour of the Karnataka government.” Arun said.

He added that if the central government does not take any action in forming the Cauvery Water Management Tribunal, his party will consider not paying taxes to the government and locking up offices of the central government.
The city police arrested 54 protesters including two women.
