Officer from Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services speaks on the fire accident

At around 3 this noon, fire broke out at a KPR IAS Coaching academy, Gandhipark, RS Puram. It is speculated that the fire could have triggered due to a short circuit in the power lines at the coaching centre.

Out of the 60 students present at the centre, Gayathri, Vijayalakshmi, Aranganathan, Selvaraj and Sakthivel got struck on the second floor of the building. They fell unconscious due to extreme suffocation, however the firefighters evacuated them and immediately ambulated them to the government hospital. Unfortunately, Sakthivel (23) died at the hospital.

Speaking to SimpliCity, Chandran from Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services says “We received a call for help at around 3:45 this noon. Immediately, two vehicles with 25 of our men and five senior officers were sent to the location. Before we reached, the residents and commercial establishments located in this vicinity, helped in dousing the flames. One person who was suffering from suffocation was given first aid and was rushed to the GH. The loss of damage caused to the property is yet to be ascertained.”

No one from this academy was available for a comment. District Collector, TN Hariharan and A. Amalraj, the City Commissioner of Police, visited the location of fire accident. An investigation to determine the exact cause of this fire accident is on.
