Omni bus stand needs to be shifted to Neelambur, students petition at Collectorate

At the petition day at the Collectorate, District Suyamariyadhai students association appealed to the District Collector TN Hariharan to relocate the Gandhipuram Omni bus stand to Neelambur, Avinashi Road.

They had briefed in their petition that due to the on-going over bridge construction work at Gandhipuram there is a heavy lag of traffic at the adjoining Omni bus stand area. 'Not only for the buses but during morning and late evening rush hours the traffic congestion pose a serious threat to the two-wheelers and pedestrians. On both the sides of the road the buses have been parked and barely there is any space for the commuters. There are incidents where the ambulances have struck in the traffic chaos and unable to move any further.

We have petitioned the Collector in August of this year to take necessary action on priority to re-shift the bus stand to Neelambur as allocated but so far, no action has been initiated in this regard. hence, we have come to petition again to devise plans to re-locate the Omni bus stand, on priority' the petitioners said.
