Adi Dravidar welfare group meeting was hosted today at the district collector's office. Chief Commissioner of Central Social Welfare Board, Lister presided over this meeting that was chaired by Coimbatore collector T.N. Hariharan.
District Collector T.N. Hariharan made an official announcement that going ahead, salary of the contractual labourers of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) will be credited in their bank accounts. He announced at this meeting that arrangements have been made for the salary to be transferred through ECS facility. Also benefits of ESI and PF will be provided to them. Insurance has been provided for the contractual sanitary workers working in municipalities, towns and town panchayats.
Medical care has been made compulsory for the sanitary workers and a series of health camps have been planned for the sanitary workers. Safety equipment has been handed over to the sanitary workers to prevent the practice of using hands for cleaning.
Instructions will be given for installation of outlet for poisonous gas from the septic tanks to the constructors of apartments. Action will be taken on those people who employ children as bonded labourers. The collector also directed the police to take actions under the prevention of atrocities act on 10 petitions received.
District revenue officer T. Christuraj, district Adi Dravidar welfare officer Mohan, Adi Dravidar welfare board member Selvakumar, government officials and police officials participated in the meeting.
