Women dies on the spot in road accident at Avinashi road.


This morning, Gandhimathi (43) who was employed in a private firm in the city was riding pillion with her husband Palaniswamy who serves as an assistant branch manager at the Indian Bank, Variety hall road branch.  

When their two-wheeler approached the near Anna statue on Avinashi Road a private bus #2 hit their two-wheeler from behind. The sudden bang threw Gandhimathi off the road leaving her sustain grave head injuries.

She was rushed to the Government Hospital (GH) where she was declared dead on arrival. The city traffic police have registered a case and investigation is on. Presently, her body is at the Government hospital for post-mortem examination. 

Road accidents have become a very common phenomenon n India, reports say one person dies in every three minutes due to road accidents. It is an alarming fact that the state of Tamil Nadu records the maximum number of road accidents.
