Finding a place for parking vehicles, especially four-wheelers has turned out to be the most challenging task these days to the people of the city. People are reluctant to use four-wheelers as it's become a cumbersome process to find a suitable place to park their vehicles. At the same time, it's undeniable that unruly parking can shrink the roads from several feet to few metres. The city traffic police department and the city corporation have been implementing new ways and modifying the existing parking set-ups to accommodate the present parking needs. However, the astounding increase in vehicles demand a comprehensive approach to resolve the issue.

Today, a meeting was called for to discuss in detail the proposed parking plans in the city by Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan with representatives from business establishments, NGO's and other officials and heads of various departments. It was proposed that on a trial basis parking in DB road would vary every even and odd month. And the plan would be implemented on a trial basis from 15th November, 2016. In order to educate the vehicle owners as to which side they must park their vehicles during the month, signages will be put up in prominent places across the roads, said Special Officer Vijayakarthikeyan
Based on viability of the plan during the trial run, any amendements if required could be implemented thereafter, he added. He also proposed that people should adhere to the traffic rules and work hand-in-hand with the offcials to create congestion free roads. People should extend their fullest co-operation in case the roads are been blocked for carrying out any maintenance works, he said.
