Valparai Court gets own building after 27 years

The new building of the District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate Court of Valparai was inaugurated near the Valparai New Bus Stand on Sunday. The court has got its own building 27 years after it was established. It was functioning from a rented building at Cooperative Colony.

Judicial sources said that till about three decades ago the court functioned as a camp court for Pollachi, where in a judicial official went there once a week to handle cases.

In 1989, a Judicial Magistrate Court was inaugurated there and functioned from a rented building.

In 1997 it was converted into a District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate Court. In 2011 the State government sanctioned a new building.

It has been established at an estimate Rs. 3.32 crore – along with quarters for the judicial officer, adjacent to the court building.

On Sunday the multi-facilitated court building was inaugurated by Madras High Court Judge and Portfolio Judge for Coimbatore R. Sudhakar.

Principal District Judge of Coimbatore R. Pongiappan, Chief Judicial Magistrate K.R. Madhurasekaran, Collector Archana Patnaik, Public Works Department Executive Engineer for Coimbatore M. Natesan and representatives of bar council and bar association were present at the event.
