As we all know, the U.S. Presidential Elections are all set to take place on the 8th of this month. Barack Obama, whose term expires on January 20, 2017, the countdown has begun with the entire world discussing and debating as to who will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections. In the mean time to give its students a glimpse of the U.S. Presidential Elections, GRD Institute of Management hosted a special session today.
'COMPASS'- Exploring new directions was hosted to give its audience a glimpse of the U.S. Presidential Elections, Ken McBride, Political Economic Officer, U.S. Consulate General in Chennai was the special invitee and speaker.

In his special address, he educated the students of the process of the Presidential Elections in the United States. He briefed that “The U.S. has 50 states and each of the states is governed by individual laws and rules. The upcoming elections in the US will be the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election where voters will choose presidential electors, who will in turn vote for a new president and vice president through the Electoral College. The term limit prescribed in the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution prevents the incumbent president, Barack Obama of the Democratic Party, from being elected to a third term.”
He also shared with the audience that Article Two of the United States Constitution prescribes that the President and Vice President of the United States must be born citizens of the United States, at least 35-years old and holding a residential status of the United States for a period of minimum 14 years.
