Car Free Sunday is an initiative of 'The Hindu-Tamil' in partnership with Coimbatore Corporation and Coimbatore City Traffic Police. Every Sunday, the NSR Road is declared as 'No motorist zone' allowing the residents use the road to exercise, walk, jog, chat, ride their bicycle and children skate around the roads too. This initiative is well received by the residents of the city.

This morning too, the residents of Saibaba Colony and the adjacent regions thronged the streets to chill under the warm Sunday morning sun. In one corner of the road, adults were involved in practicing yoga under the supervision of a yoga trainer.

A little away, an artist was sketching the portrait of children. The little ones patiently waited for their turn, a few kids had their face painted with tattoos like butterfly, flowers, batman, avengers....
The colorful and entertaining mime show performance by the school students added more colors to the day. Students of Little Kingdom School, Tiruppur using attractive props put up a musical and firmation dance show.

The event also touch-based on short awareness talk by Mohan, Environmentalists on water conservation.

'School and College students are invited to use this platform to display their extra-curricular skill. Need of the hour social issues can also be depicted through shows as it would reach the public and childrens in real-time' shares one of the organiser.
