Though there has been a delay in Northeast monsoon reaching to our parts of the region, the District Administration officials are taking all cautionary measures to ensure the safety of the people during heavy downpours. In connection with the same, the collectorate has been chairing continuous meetings with all department heads to reinstate the roles to be taken up swiftly during disasters caused by rains.

As a part of the agenda, District Collector TN Hariharan along with Superintendent of Police, Ramya Bharathi, Revenue Officer Christuraj, Fire Service department Head, Chandran and other division heads visited the low-lying areas that are prone to flood at Mettupalayam.

The areas adjacent to the Bhavani river were identified as risk-prone zones as floods can easily penetrate the residential colonies during heavy downpours. Based on the previous statistics and disaster management plans, the officials came up with detailed strategies to be implemented during unforeseen situations, this season.
