Coimbatore chapter of Sadhu Vaswani Centre creates awareness about Meatless Day

About 300 children from five schools in the city participated in the awareness rally that was organized this morning by the Coimbatore chapter of Sadhu Vaswani Centre. In order to create awareness among the public to observe November 25 as Meatless Day, the volunteers and devotees of this social service organization hosted this rally.

November 25 is the birthday of saint Vaswani. This spiritual head of this foundation is a staunch believer of treating all living creatures equally. Thus, as a mark of respect, several people from different walks of life commit that they will refrain from consuming meat and any form of non-vegetarian food. Thus, this day is also known as World Vegetarian Day in several parts of the world.

This awareness rally was flagged off from the Avinashilingam Home Science College. Students crossed the Bharathi Park road and concluded the march at Government College of Technology. This peace march was organised to sensitize the public to pledge that they will not consume meat on November 25, the birthday of saint Vaswani.
