International Diabetes Federation's World Diabetes Day is observed on 14th November every year. Reports say that around 415 million people live due to diabetes around the world. As per 2015 report, 5,42,000 children have been affected by diabetes. Kovai Medical Centre & Hospital (KMCH) organized a diabetic camp on the event of world diabetic day, today at Race course. District Collector, T.N.Hariharan was the Chief Guest for the event. He inaugurated the free medical camp at Race Course road.

KMCH had organized this camp to create awareness among the public on the diabetes and ways to encounter the condition. During the camp vital checks, sugar test and free doctor consultation was provided to the public. A team of specialist doctors from KMCH, Dr.T.R.Sivagnanam, Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan, Dr.P. Velayutham educated the public and created awareness regarding diabetes. More than 400 people from in & around Race Course area participated and benefited through the camp.
Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman KMCH, has stated that such awareness campaign can play a significant role in controlling diabetes. He thanked the District Collector and the officials for their active participation in the camp.
