Yesterday, the students of Karpagam Arts and Science College were all set to board the bus for their 2 week trip to Kerala. However, the jubilation scenes ended up sad for the students in a very short while. A team of RTO Officials on inspection found that the buses did not possess proper permit documents and also had unpaid tax dues. In this regard, the officials confiscated the buses.
Close to 80 students from the private college had paid close to 20 thousand rupees each for this Kerala trip. The College had arranged two A/C buses from Palakkad. This incident turned out to be very disappointing for the students as they were left stranded without knowing if the trip would be continued or cancelled.
After the incident, in which lorries from Kerala had dumped medical and poultry wastes at an empty land in Ettimadai, the officials have increased the vigil at the check posts in the TN-Kerala border. However the inspection by the RTO officials in Kerala registration tourist buses makes it evident that overall the vigil has been tightened.
