Bison enters residential colony in Coonoor



Not just the farmers, the wildlife are also hugely disappointed due to the failure of monsoons, this year. Even the hill stations which receives a minimal showers despite monsoon failures are not spared this season.

Coonoor and Ooty are two such places greatly affected due to this monsoons. With decrease in vegetation and water sources in all reserve and forest areas, wild animals have started penetrating the villages and residential colonies in search of fodder and water. 

Today, an adult male Bison entered the residential area close to Sims Park area in Coonoor. This incident caused panic among the residents, who chose to stay indoors. The residents of this area immediately alerted the forest officials, who in turn chased the Bison back into the wild.

Natives of this region share with us that in recent times this is the second such incident that a Bison entering into human habitations. Last month too, in search of food and water a Bison entered the boat house.

The locals of this region have requested the forest officials to take necessary steps to avoid animal trespassing into human habitations.
