Central Committee holds meeting at Collectorate to discuss on demonetisation.

This morning, a special committee deputed by the Central Government arrived to Coimbatore Collectorate to discuss with all senior officials regarding the impact of demonetisation and the real-time situations faced by the traders post the announcement.

On 19th November, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi formed 27 special committees' to visit all the States and Cities to inspect if all the proposed procedures are followed regarding demonetisation.  

The team consists of Additional Secretary of Employee Welfare and Training Ministry, Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Central Town Planning Department's Assistant Secretary and officials from Reserve Bank of India. 



The team led by Janaki, Secretary of Central Town Planning department chaired the meeting. District Collector, TN Hariharan, senior officials of the civic body, officials from banking and postal department, representatives from trade unions, farmers and social activists were present during the meet. 



Janaki, Secretary of Central Town Planning department  enquired about the availability and access of the public to new 2000 currency and present situation of the ATM's and banks. Preparations that have to be executed for continued distribution of the new 2000's and 100's denomination through ATM's and banks were also discussed in detail. The traders, farmers and representatives of the public also interacted with the team and highlighted their day-to-day crisis since demonetisation. Appreciations were also conveyed to all the staff of banks and postal department who worked beyond working hours to handle the situation. 

After the meeting, the team will leave to Delhi and submit a detailed field report to the Central Government by 25th of this month.
