'GPS devices will be installed in all Police patrol vehicles', says Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, A Amalraj

During the press meet convened at the Commissioner office, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, A Amalraj brief on the on-going process implementation in the department. Speaking on that, he said 'The work of installing Global Positioning System (GPS) devices in police patrol vehicles in our city has been expedited. There are 23 patrol jeeps and 32 two wheeler patrol vehicles in Coimbatore. So far the GPS device has been installed in 9 vehicles and installation work on the remaining vehicles is under work-in-progress.

Installation of GPS will ease the to direct the police patrol vehicles to the crime location swiftly.. Also, the work on channelling the traffic cameras at the signals to the main traffic control room is also under process. By implementing these technologies, crimes and traffic violations can be monitored along with identification of the offenders, instantaneously'.
