James, a Nigerian national was arrested for selling Heroin in 2012. It has been reported that he was staying in a rented house in Pallapalayam in Coimbatore and was pursuing his graduation in a private college.
The frequent parcels that James sent to various addresses in the city created suspicion among the police. Upon, investigation it was revealed that James has been trading in Heroin and was sending the banned product through couriers. The officials also recovered 200 kgs of the banned product from his residence.
Subsequently, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) who arrested James filed a case at the Narcotics Court, Coimbatore.
Since then, the case has been on-going. Today, his case came to hearing in the Narcotics Court, the Magistrate adjourned the case to another date. James, who was frustrated by the re-scheduling of the hearing, entered into an argument with the lawyers and police personnel who were present in the court. Police pacified him and cleared the scene.
Renuka Thomas, Public Prosecutor said that, 'James is not cooperating with the enquiry and is behaving violently. He tried to attack me during the last two adjournments'. Sivasami Tamilan a lawyer who takes up human rights cases has committed to represent James in this case.
