City police department and Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) jointly conducted a training programme for the taxi drivers on 'First Aid and Safety'. Through their continued efforts the city traffic police department aims at curbing accidents and instilling safe driving procedures to the public by organising various awareness campaigns to different sectors of the people.

As part of their on-going initiative, today, a first aid workshop was conducted for 100 taxi drivers at a private hotel in the city. Speaking on this, Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic, Saravanan explained to the drivers on the guidelines that are mandatorily to be followed while driving. The traffic chaos and life-threatening incidents that accompanies unruly driving was also highlighted to the participants.
A team of doctors and paramedical staff from KMCH demonstrated on basic first aid mechanisms. Learning such first aid procedures could save someone's life during a tough situation and many times will help save their own lives, explained the doctors.

Traffic Officer (East) Aiyyasamy, Assistant Commissioner Traffic Saravanan and more than 100 taxi drivers participated in this event. A taxi driver who participated in this event stated that 'The workshop was very useful for them and that they would certainly help accident victims in future with more confidence'.
