Bangalore University delays results for four months

For 95 students of Bangalore University, it's been an agonising wait since July to know the results of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) exam.

M Ramachandra Gowda, custodian, commerce department, said: "We sent the marks list to the evaluation section six weeks ago. Now it's up to them to announce the results."

Registrar (evaluation) Suresh V Nadagoudar had a different tale to tell. "We have been informed that the candidates' list hasn't been prepared yet and that is causing the delay. The process is under way and students can contact the head of the commerce department," he said.

For the past two months, Rajesh PR (name changed) has been going to Bangalore University's Pareeksha Bhavan, hoping to find out about the results. "Every time we visit the university , we have been listening to the same excuses. We were told that the papers have been evaluated and kept at Pareeksha Bhavan. As the candidates' list hasn't been prepared yet, they have not released the results."

It is learnt that the custodian's office has evaluated the answer scripts, which only carry the students' register numbers, but failed to prepare the candidates' list with details such as the name of students, colleges and the marks they've obtained.

Rajesh is planning to join a university in the US this year. Having kept all his documents ready, he is awaiting the exam results to update his application. Since it is mandatory to have four-year schooling before masters, the results of his PGDBA exams are crucial. "If I don't meet the deadline, I will end up losing Rs 1.5 lakh which I have invested in all the applications," he rued.

Another student Prakash K said: "BU has a system wherein if a course has less than 250 students, it won't issue digitised marks card and the whole process has to be done manually . The delay in releasing the results is unfair."
