PSGR Krishnammal College celebrates International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On this occasion, GRG School of Management Studies along with PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, in partnership with Krav Maga Tamil Nadu Chapter organized a self-defence training workshop yesterday at this college premises. Dr. S. Nirmala, Principal, PSGR Krishnammal College for women, welcomed the gathering.

The objective of this programme was to create awareness about self-defence among women. Sreeram, Founder/Chief Instructor - Krav Maga TN Chapter and his team demonstrated a few self-defence techniques. The students of this college were also educated on why it is important for women to be aware of the various techniques of self-defence. Sreeram also insisted that women must use self-defence techniques to protect themselves.

In his address to the audience, he said “Every woman must be strong and bold while dealing with various situations that they face in their life. Parents are the role models for children and they (parents) must set an example for their children.

Lakshmi, Deputy Commissioner of Police addressed the gathering and motivated the young women of this college to reach great heights through her motivational thoughts and inspirational words. She insisted on the need for gender equality in this contemporary era.”

Dr. P. Sadhasivam, Dean, of GRG School of Management Studies, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by 150 MBA students, 100 school students and 20 professional women.
