To commemorate the 400th birthday of William Shakespeare and to coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the school, the members of the alumni of the Avila convent recently presented eight plays of William Shakespeare. This was a fund-raising event was called Ashtanayikas in Shakespeare where eight plays including Romeo and Juliet, Othello, All's Well that Ends Well, Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Helen, Brutus's Wiife Portia, Lady Maccbeth and Cleopatra were presented.

“Concept, choreography and costume was done by Shreya Mervyn Kallingal and Rohana Jeyaraj was the compère. It was great to see the past students of this school work as a team to put this show together. The plays of Shakespeare were performed in Indian classical style giving out a message regarding empowerment of women and awareness to people. The event was conducted in connection with the golden jubilee of the school. Organised by the alumni association, the funds raised through this show would be donated to the homeless people' said Sister Shalini, Principal.

About 3,500 people attended this programme and we are told that funds collected through this event will be used to support the homeless people. This show began at noon and concluded the same evening. Each of the plays was performed in Indian classical style giving out a message about women empowerment.
