Pensioners stage protest making various demands

Retired officials today, staged a protest this morning before the Red Cross Building making various demands. They demanded the constitution of 8th pay commission, to pay the allowance of 7% from 01.07.2016, releasing the recommendations made by the expert committee, issuing of identity cards to the pensioners as announced by the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister in State assembly.



They also sought family pensions for the family of army officials, and also requested for government’s order for constitution of a Pensions Management Commission. They also demanded that they are given relief from compulsory deduction of pension and permission to unsubscribe from the pension plan, withdraw the audit ban for deduction of additional pension by treasury and state accountant.

The protests were led by Pa. Jagadeeshan, District President of the union, A. Somasundaram, District Secretary and H. Rajeshwaran, District Treasurer. Several state and district level office bearers of the union and heads of various branches and members participated in this protest.
