S.P. Velumani distributed orders for agricultural loans to 63 farmers


S.P. Velumani minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and distributed orders for issue of loans to 63 persons under the agriculture loans scheme. Yesterday, an agriculture loan distribution function was hosted at Thondamuthur in Coimbatore. Minister, S.P. Velumani, distributed the orders to the beneficiaries.



Loans to the tune of Rs.61.60 lakhs were distributed to 63 farmers. When speaking on the occasion the minister said, “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is implementing many schemes for the benefit of the farmers. Loans are provided to the farmers and also loans are also waived for those farmers who are unable to repay their loans. When the Chief Minister came to power for the sixth time the first order from her was the waiver of agriculture loans. Rs.124.45 crores loan was waved off in Coimbatore district. Rs.202.28 crores has been distributed as loans to farmers in Coimbatore district.”

“We are experiencing as situation where the cooperative banks are not able to distribute loans to farmers due to the demonetisation of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes. Though there is a difficulty in distribution of loans, loans have been distributed to 63 farmers. Members of the Farmers Cooperative Associations should start an account in their respective branches. The cash part of the loan will be deposited in these accounts. The farmers can get a loan of Rs.25,000 and continue with their agricultural activities.”

“Fertilizer, Pesticides and other agricultural raw materials can be availed from the cooperative stores. 733 farmers who are members of agriculture cooperative societies have started an account in the banks and have qualified themselves for receiving the loan.”

District president of District Central Cooperative Bank R. Sakthivel, delivered the welcome address, Central cooperative bank’s managing director explained the process of obtaining loan. Joint registrar of Cooperative Unions Prabhu thanked the audience. MLAs, R. Kanagaraj, Amman Arjunan, Ettimadai Shanmugam, Kasthuri Vasu, Revenue Thasildar Mathuranthaki, Joint registrar of TUCAS Vanitha, Assistant registrars Raghupathi, Mahendran were also present during the distribution function.

Also, presidents and directors of Cooperative Unions from Chennaur, Theethipalayam, Mathvarayapuram, Thondamuthur, Devarayapuram, Kalikkanaikenpalayam, Nathakavundanpudhur, Narasipuram, Poluvampatti and Vedapatti participated in the event.
