Uber partners with City Police Traffic Department to train drivers on basic life support training.

Uber, the world’s largest on-demand transportation company, has today partnered with the Police Traffic Department, Coimbatore, to train over 100 driver partners in basic life support training skills.

The training session was hosted at city-based Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH). The training educated the participants to CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation), first response training and other lifesaving emergency procedures that will help the driver partners be more equipped to handle the situation and victims in case of an accident on the road.

The session was attended by S. Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and K Magudapathy, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic, West) from the Traffic department.

Speaking on this occasion, S. Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said, "It's a great initiative by Uber. I thank Uber on behalf of Coimbatore City Police for this training. Uber Driver partners are one of the first respondents on the road. This training will be helpful for the passengers as well and they can also help the traffic accident victims.”

“We request them that during any such incidents, they can call our police control room (100). We will do the needful like declare a green corridor for ambulance. I also thank the doctors from KMCH for the priceless training."

Commenting on this partnership, Bhavik Rathod, General Manager, South and West, Uber India said, “We are proud to partner with Police Traffic Department, Coimbatore to train our driver partners and equip them with basic first aid and life support skills. We are thankful to the Traffic Department of Coimbatore and KMCH for this great initiative.”
