Anya Boutique and Kambaa Inc., two City-based organisations have joined hands together for a noble cause. Well, they have come up with an enticing idea 'Wardroad' a' 'Wardrobe' for the needy. Inspite of people accumulate their own clothes and donate it to orphanages and shelter homes, still we sight 'needy' women, men and kids walking through the streets in half baked clothes. And, this has been the driving factor for the Founders of 'Wardroad'.

Today, this initiative was inaugurated by CCMC Special Officer, Vijayakarthikeyan at Anya Boutique, Crosscut Road.
Here's what owners of Kambaa Inc., shares with us, 'Unsure of the feasibility and execution of the project, the thoughts of providing the needy with good clothes were haunting in my mind for the past couple of years. Three months back, we consolidated our idea of pooling used clothes in good conditions and distributing to the needy. Most of us refresh our wardrobes with new arrivals very frequently, which makes some of the existing clothes get dumped in a corner. What if we could provide those 'unnoticed' or 'dumped' clothes to someone who would cherish it till it gets torn?

Through 'Wardroad' we will be collecting clothes which are neatly washed, ironed and in wearable condition. A combined warehouse will segregate the clothes collected through the initiative according to size, gender and usability. The database of the needy would be stored through an automated process. The person who has received the clothes, quantity, his details, everything would be stored in the process and reflect in the website ensuring transparency of the process to the public.

24/7, 365 days with proper security is the USP of this wardroad. The wardroad is not a dumping place for clothes, it's a sophisticated process which allows the donors to deposit one cloth at a time. With high-quality steel, the wardroad can withstand all seasons'.
At present the Boutique has been declared open at Anya's RS Puram and their Crosscut road branch. Speaking on the expansion process and how 'Wardroad' intends to create a 'change', Anya boutique's Founder shares with us that, 'A Couple of months back, while passing through the Coimbatore General Hospital, I could see many people in half-baked dresses on the streets and platforms. Kids wrapped in 'unfitting' towels, women wearing torn and sutured blouses...it was lamentable to witness them.
Coinciding, Kambaa Inc., discussed with their idea of 'Wardroad' to me. Giving no second thought or time, I instantly agreed to their proposal and started the initial sketches, right away.
A birthday concept will be shortly launched allowing people to deposit new dresses in the 'Wardroad' which would be distributed to the needy on their birthdays. A picture of them will be clicked and sent to the donor, as well. Briefing on the sustainability and the future plans of their initiative, the Founders shared that they have plans of installing 20 wardrooms in the city and also expanding it to other cities, as well.
Appreciating this laudable initiative, new and used clothes were donated to the Wardroad by public and the guests who were present during the inauguration.
