CCMC instructed to host a capacity building exposure workshop by Additional Mission Director, SBM

In a letter issued by Saurabh Jain, Additional Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), to the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), the minister stated that 'The city of Coimbatore has done commendable work in the field of engaging Social Entrepreneurs in door to door collection of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) wards. You are therefore requested to conduct a capacity building exposure workshop (which includes classroom learning, demonstration, site visits etc) on this initiative taken by your municipal corporation on 24 March 2017.’

‘This will also provide an opportunity to the city to project their best practices at the National Level, for the officials of other municipal corporations to learn and replicate work done.’ Through this letter, this official instructed CCMC to send officials to the other cities for their capacity building. The letter also stated that in the past, 15 workshops have been successfully hosted, covering the various components of this mission.

All this is being done to achieve the goal of making our country clean and open defecation free by 2 October 2019, under the SBM which is an initiative of the Ministry of Urban Development. One of the important components of the SBM is capacity building of all city-level and state-level officials and other staff working for this mission.
