'New cyclone christened as 'Vardha' will hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh', says IMD

Following 'Nada', Cyclone 'Vardha' is brewing hot at the Bay of Bengal, this time targeting the coasts of Andhra Pradesh. Last week, 'Nada' that was predicted to hit the shores of Cuddalore lost it's strength mid-way and brought only moderate to high showers in the coastal regions of TN and slight to moderate showers to rest of the parts in TN.

However, 'Vardha' is expected to intensify and transform into a cyclone by Friday, 9th December. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rough seas and squally winds ranging from 50 km/hr to 60 km/hr and chances to heighten upto 120 km/hr to 130 km/hr. Warnings have been issued to fishermen to stay away from venturing into the seas and those who are already out at sea have been advised to return immediately.

At present the depression over southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards, and is expected to hit the shores of Nellore and Kakinada around afternoon on 12th December.

In this nexus, Chennai and shores of Tamil Nadu also might receive high to moderate showers, says Meteorological department. Whooping rains in the Andaman Nicobar Islands has impacted in the formation of this depression, which is expected to transform into a cyclone by tomorrow.
